A Message from Mr. Garcia 08-28-2026
Dear Harrison Families,
I hope this message finds you feeling as energized and ready as we are to welcome our students back to Harrison. There is something truly magical about the eve of a new school year. Whether you’re a student dreaming about meeting your new teachers, reuniting with old friends, or anticipating your favorite game at recess, or a parent busy prepping backpacks, know that we are all sharing in that same flutter of anticipation tonight. It’s a privilege to embark on this journey together, and I truly believe this year will be another amazing experience.
Please take a moment to review our Parent Handbook, which was sent out last week, for important details about our first day arrival procedures. Please note that the first day is different from every other day of the year. Parents and students will be able to stand together with their classes and take pictures before school begins. Staff members will be outside to guide families, but reviewing procedures in advance will make the morning run smoothly. Starting Tuesday, students will enter the building directly through Door 4 or Door 8 (kindergarten will enter through Door 5) and head to their grade-level locations. Staff will be there to help them find their way. If the weather is an issue on Monday, I will notify the community on Sunday night and revert to our normal first-day arrival procedure.
You can view the Pomptonian’s Lunch Menu here". For Kindergarten students, however, we recommend sending lunch from home for the first week or so to help them adjust to all the new routines. Having a familiar meal can make for a more comfortable and successful start. Please also be sure to fill your My School Bucks account for tomorrow and throughout the year.
Dismissal Information
Dismissal for Kindergarten is at 2:37 pm, with pickup outside the Media Center at Door 6. Students in grades 1 through 5 are dismissed at 2:42 pm each day. Please review the dismissal pictures in the Parent Handbook to see each pickup location. For safety reasons, the parking lot is not open for parent parking. Be sure your dismissal information in Genesis is up to date. Should you need to adjust dismissal plans for day one, please update your preferences in the parent portal as soon as possible. Since many families update their schedules for the first day, having accurate information in advance is essential for ensuring a safe and organized dismissal process for all students.
Friday Reminder
Friday, September 4th, is our first early dismissal. Kindergarten students will be dismissed at 11:55 am, and students in grades 1 through 5 will be dismissed at 12:00 pm. As with all first dismissals, the process may take a little longer.
The PTA is running its annual Fall Picnic on September 9th from 5:00-7:00 pm! If you would like pizza, that order needs to be in by Friday, September 4th! Please see their brochure for more information and the Pizza Sign-Up Form.
